New York socialite Lilly Pulitzer became a fashion star in the fifties when she moved to Palm Beach and started selling vibrant resort wear in her signature pink and green. When then First Lady Jackie Kennedy, who was an old school chum of Lilly, wore the dress in a feature at Life Magazine, the whole U.S. discovered “Lilly’s.” Through the sixties and seventies, the Lilly Pulitzer line was the unofficial uniform of the affluent at play.
